Neoclassical architecture came to Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the second half of 18th century due the growing influence of France on Poland’s and Lithuania’s political and cultural life in that period of time. The Vilnius Cathedral, which was completed in 1783, represents the most prominent example of neoclassical architecture in Lithuania. Nevertheless, as the result of such “Neoclassicism fashion”, were constructed and still exist today few lesser known, but interesting to visit neoclassical style buildings in small towns of Lithuania: Mielagėnai, Paežeriai, Taujėnai and Vidiškės (in the photos below).
