The wooden epitaph, Riga Cathedral, Latvia. It was a tradition of Livonian noblemen, which derived themselves from the Knights of the Livonian Order, to hang such wooden epitaphs with depicted coat of arms in churches to honor deceased members of their families’ burials; in other words, wooden epitaphs were some kind of distant tombstones
