The next two pictures are the illustration of the phenomenon when heavy weapons were brought to distant islands during a war or preparation for a war, and, after left there because of their heavy weight and an expensive removal. In the first picture: the Armstrong 100-ton gun, the largest muzzle loading cannon in English history, Fort Rinella, Malta. Two guns of such type were delivered to Malta from Great Britain and were mounted there in 1883-1884, and the gun at Fort Rinella is still there
