The painting Battle of Grunwald painted by Jan Matejko in 1878, Warsaw, Poland. It depicts the Battle of Grunwald fought allies – the Kingdom of Poland and Grand Duchy of Lithuania against the Teutonic Order in 1410. Besides other interesting details, future Grand Master Heinrich von Plauen, depicted in the painting, (marked by the white fleur-de-lis on the right side of the painting) did not take part in this battle. He was away from Grunwald and immediately after the battle organised a defense of the Teutonic Knights' state capital Marienburg, which allowed to regain lost Order’s lands later.
