The bas-relief of the mounted Grand Master of the Teutonic order over the Gate to the High Castle, Malbork, Poland. It was installed here during the restoration of Malbork Castle in 1882-1939. Many details in the castle were restored or newly created on a comparative basis with other authentic Teutonic castles. This bas-relief is a copy of the bas-relief of a rider placed over the portal in Bierzglowo castle dated to 1305, the oldest ceramic bas-relief in the former Prussia with two possible versions of an iconography: the rider could interpreted as Christ entering Jerusalem, or the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order; the last one was chosen by restorers in Malbork Castle.
