The Legacy of a Typical German Building. First typical project buildings in Prussia were castles of the Teutonic Order in the 13th century. Knights used this building principal in conquered lands during Crusades to save time and resources, which were crucial in a hostile environment. Brick Radzyn Chelminski (German: Reden) and Gniew (German: Mewe) castles in Poland (in former Prussia) are an illustration of such strategy. Probably because of time and resources saving Germans not abandoned the typical buildings idea during later centuries as well. Typical schools, churches, railway stations, bridges, and etc. were built all over German Prussia in the 19th century and can be found in Poland, Kaliningrad Oblast and Lithuania Minor at present; in the latter as examples can be mentioned similar churches in the vicinity of Klaipėda in Vyžiai (German: Wießen), Dovilai (German: Dawillen) and Kretingalė (German: Crottingen) which is shown in the photograph
